ALYSSA DICKEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

 

Alyssa was an active member and avid volunteer of Las Madres since March 2018 and lost her fight to stage 4 breast cancer on September 26, 2022. Alyssa had a huge heart, a heart for diversity and helping educate others about diversity. Alyssa played an integral part in setting up the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion group in our organization. She also helped establish the scholarship program. While fighting breast cancer Alyssa was an advocate for those with disabilities and helped spread awareness of how to talk to and be respectful of those with disabilities. Make sure to do your monthly breast exam! We will always remember Alyssa for the wonderful person, mother, and friend she was as well as all the things she accomplished for Las Madres. 

 

Scholarships are available to members and non-members to cover the memberships dues for two playgroups per child and the executive dues for a 1 year Las Madres membership.

 

Who is eligible for a scholarship?


- Members who are renewing or have completed their 2 month trial

- Financial hardship

- Members of the BIPOC community who are underrepresented in Silicon Valley

- A person who has a disability or a child with disability

- Life changing event (not birth, not covid)
Note: Scholarships cannot be used for events, mid-year playgroup changes, or other fees.

HOW DOES THE PERSON AWARDED A SCHOLARSHIP RECEIVE IT?

- If you have never been a member before, you must complete our 2 month trial first and then apply for a scholarship. 

- If you are already a member you can apply for a scholarship prior to the renewal of you membership.

Once you have applied and it has been approved you will receive an email coming your scholarship which will contain a discount code.  You can then redeem your scholarship when it is time to upgrade or renew your membership.
