WHO ARE We?


Las Madres Neighborhood Playgroups is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization. Las Madres offers parents and their children the opportunity to join playgroups that are organized by the age of the child and by Neighborhood Clubs. We are based in Santa Clara County, California.

OUR HISTORY


Las Madres began in 1953 when 12 mothers came together at a childbirth preparation class.  

In 1992, Las Madres became a non-profit public benefit corporation and was renamed Las Madres Neighborhood Playgroups. The group is now organized under the California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law for public benefit and educational purposes.

OUR MISSION

 

Our mission is to provide neighborhood and community-wide forums for educational assistance and support for children and their parents or caregivers pertaining to parenting and early childhood mental, physical and social development.

We do this by encouraging participation in activities such as playgroups, parent education, online forums, and community service.
